Are AASU leaders above teachers in Assam? We all know, A teacher is not only the person who teaches the syllabus to students. ... Beyond that, but teachers also serve many other roles in the classroom. They set the tone of the school, mentor & teach children & nurture them well. A video of the lady teacher lying down on the road with folded hands in front of the demonstrating students has gone viral on social media leading to condemnation by various Organisations. After the incident of student leaders forcing a school teacher at Philobari in Assam’s Tinsukia to kneel down drew sharp criticisms on social media, the central unit of AASU become Helpless. Several organizations across the state have vehemently condemned the incident where a group of leaders from the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) was involved. Meantime, The AASU expelled from the organisation the vice-president of its Tinsukia district unit for his alleged involvement in inciting the agitating students to force the teacher to kneel down and apologise. The Tinsukia Zila Saikhik Karmachari Manch (teachers-employees’ body) has condemned the incident and appealed to all so that such incidents do not recur in the future.
