Porn addiction is a behavioral addiction similar to other addictions like gambling and drugs. Recently, Police in Assam’s Nagaon district arrested three minors aged between 8 and 11 years and an adult in connection with the murder of a 6-year-old girl who refused to watch pornographic clips with them. According to sex and behavioural sciences experts, sex is one of those abiding mysteries to which teenagers seek an answer. Today it's much easier to reach out for answers through the social media or the general web. But often the answers come in the form of pornography, say experts. An addiction is a destructive disease which is a hard thing to kick away but curable. When any addiction captures you, it wraps you like an octopus. Blame it on easy access to ‘bad content’ on smartphones, there is increased aggression and violent behaviour in youngsters, especially minors, which is prompting them to commit child abuse such as kidnaps, molestation and sexual assaults. Child psychology experts are expressing concern as many teenagers are getting addicted to porn. The psychologists attributed the rise in sexual crimes to access to pornographic content on websites and lack of parental supervision. Studies have found that when people engage in an ongoing pattern of “self-concealment”—which is when they do things they’re not proud of and keep them a secret from their friends and family members—it not only hurts their relationships and leaves them feeling lonely, but also makes them more vulnerable to severe psychological problems. For both male and female porn consumers, their habit is often accompanied by problems with anxiety, body-image issues, poor self-image, relationship problems, insecurity, and depression.
