Buying gold in the festive season is considered auspicious in India. The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2021-22 - Series-VII or the seventh tranche will be open for subscription from today (Monday, October 25).The Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2021-22 - Series VI will be open for subscription for the period October 25 to October 29 and bonds will be issued on November 2. Sovereign gold bonds are one of the most efficient ways to allocate to gold, and given that prices could be soft, investors can stagger their investment over the next 4-5 months. Sovereign Gold Bonds is the best way of investing in gold in digital form without having to purchase the gold in physical form. Interest on the bonds will be taxable as per the provisions of the Income-Tax Act, 1961 (43 of 1961). The capital gains tax arising on redemption of SGB to an individual has been exempted. Indexation benefits will be provided to long-term capital gains arising to any person on transfer of bonds. TDS is not applicable on the bonds, but it is the responsibility of the holder to comply with tax laws.
