In a great news for Indian Athletics, India’s Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has climbed to No. 2 in the World Rankings. The 23-year-old was ranked 16th in mid-July before the Games began. Neeraj currently has a ranking score of 1315 and is now second only to Germany’s Johannes Vetter (1396). Neeraj Chopra created history on August 7 as he became the first from the country to win a gold in track and field in the Olympics. He threw the javelin to a distance of 87.58m to pick the yellow metal at the Tokyo Games. Neeraj’s attempt also contributed to India finishing with their best-ever medals tally of seven at the Olympics.
