Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou: An example of Taliban’s brutality

Some books suddenly get the status of classics after a long dormancy. Brave Sushmita left behind memories of writing her first book under the Taliban after she moved to Afghanistan with her husband. Her book 'Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou', published in 1997, was made into a Bollywood movie 'Escape from Taliban' after which she came under the Taliban glare. The 49-year-old Indian author was dragged out of her husband's house in eastern Paktika province by masked gunmen and shot dead. Today we find strange parallels in what is happening now and what she had related to them in her book !
