DC Dimapur Reinforces Ban On Resource Extraction

Taking serious note of destruction of ecology and riverbed due to rampant extraction of boulders and sand gravels in rivers of Dimapur district, the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Rajesh Soundararanjan, has completely banned extraction of resources (sand gravels /boulders) in the rivers of the district. According to DIPR report, a team from District Administration verified claims that individuals were illegally undertaking sand mining in Dhansiri river behind Interstate Terminus, Purana Bazaar. one JCB, which was being used for the extraction, was also seized by the authorities and a case has been registered with East Police Station, Dimapur.
