Taliban sympathizers’ under Police scanner, says CM Himanta Biswa Sarma

After Assam Police had arrested 14 people for supporting the Taliban, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that many more pro-Taliban people are on the watch list.On August 21, the Assam Police had arrested 14 people across the state for supporting the Taliban's insurgence in Afghanistan. The accused were allegedly arrested for uploading social media posts that revolved around the Taliban and its takeover of Afghanistan.CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Assam is a very sensitive state; so, we had requested people to avoid sensitive posts on social media which could spread communal tensions. Some people didn’t listen to us, so we arrested them.
