According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted isolated heavy to very heavy falls over the northeastern states on Saturday and Sunday, August 7-8. The IMD’s regional met centre based in Guwahati adds that the likes of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura will start experiencing moderate showers and thunderstorms from Thursday itself. Meanwhile, over the past one week, the monsoon activity over the Northeast has been fairly normal. Parts of Northeast India are set to experience a spike in rainfall activity this weekend, as heavy monsoon showers have been forecast across the region on August 7-8.
