Tripura Women Commission's response on Sex Trade

Tripura womens commission is deeply concerned over involvement of a growing number of jobless women in sex trade at Agartala and in different parts of the state. A meeting was held in the conference hall of DM (West) office to find a means of solving the burning issue. The chairperson of the womens commission said that on several occasions the commission had arranged to have these women sheltered in various homes run by the government for them but they make good their escape at the slightest opportunity after a few days. Many others present in the meeting also discussed the gravity of the problem and the chairperson of the womens commission sought help from the administration to trace out and shift these women to homes made for and run by the state government for them.
