CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged all affluent families to give up ration cards

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma urged all affluent families of the state to give up ration cards for those who genuinely need the benefits of the cards. He also said that ration cards are meant exclusively for the economically weaker sections of society. Already Many affluent families have surrendered their cards to let the needy ones to avail the benefits of the cards. CM Sarma appreciated their moves and further urged the affluent to give up their cards to let the needy people avail the benefits. Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted," “I humbly request all affluent families of Assam to voluntarily give up their ration cards so that the benefits can reach those who genuinely need them".
