Manipur: DC issues first gender certificates to two transgender persons

In yet another step towards an egalitarian Manipur, DC Bishnupur, Krishnakumar handed over ID cards and certificates to 2 transgenders of Bishnupur district who had registered at the national portal "transgender.dosje.gov.in" . The DC handed over the certificates to the two trans persons in function held at the office chamber of the Deputy Commissioner at new Mini Secretariat in the presence of ADM H Bobby Sharma, AC to DC L Bobby Singh and District Manager (IT) O Prasanta.Earlier, the district administration had provided a financial assistance of Rs 15,000 each to 35 transgenders under the sponsorship of National Institute for Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, besides providing foodgrains and other essential commodities to the transgender community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the deputy commissioner informed.
