Assam records highest rate of crime against women , NCRB data shows !

Assam is the land of Goddess ! But Assam recorded the highest rate of crime against women in the country for the fourth consecutive year, reveal National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) figures for 2020. Assam, however, witnessed an overall drop in cases under ‘Offences against State’ — from 447 in 2019 to 333 in 2020.NCRB report shows that the rate of crime against women in Assam was 154.3, way higher than the national rate of 56.5. The rate is calculated as the number of crimes recorded per 100,000 population. Significantly, the crimes rates against women in the other seven states in the Northeast are much below the national average.
