Around 116 Bangladeshi illegal migrants have been detected from 2018 till August 31, 2021 in Meghalaya. This was stated by Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui while replying to a question raised by Congress MLA Winnerson Sangma during the Autumn session. Rymbui informed the House three districts have the Superintendent of Police (Infiltration). He informed that the total number of infiltration posts in the state is 30. He also informed the House that 16,400 inter-state migrants without proper documents have also been detected during the same period. Meanwhile, if a break-up regarding the same is mentioned, almost 5,460 migrants were detected in 2018, 7,626 in 2019, 2,122 in 2020 while 1,192 have been detected till date in 2021.
