Assam government will cover all BPL families under AB-PMAY scheme!

Assam State Health department has taken up a step to accelerate the process for inclusion of all the targeted beneficiaries under Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. In this regard, personnel of the department will proceed door-to-door. Official data indicate that a total of 335 empanelled hospitals — both public and private — have been already included under this scheme. Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which aims at providing a health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation to over 10.74 crores poor and vulnerable families that form the bottom 40% of the Indian population. The treatment and testing of Covid-19 will be done for free of cost at any of the private hospitals empanelled for the scheme. Quarantine at a private hospital will also be covered under this insurance.
