BJP spokesperson Ram Kadam announced that no film involving writer-lyricist Javed Akhtar will be allowed to be screened in the country till he apologises to functionaries of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for comparing it to the Taliban. In a recent interview to a news portal, Javed Akhtar said that the Taliban are barbaric, their actions are reprehensible, but those supporting the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal are all the same. These comments have not gone down well with the BJP, who said that if the RSS were like the Taliban, he wouldn’t be allowed to make such statements. It is very clear that total faith is in the basic sensibility of an average Indian. The majority of this nation is extremely decent and tolerant. That must be respected. India will never become a Talibani country.
