Today, Supreme Court (SC) rapped the government over the delay in filling up the vacancies in Tribunals. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana said: “There is no respect to judgments of this court. You are testing our patience! How many persons were appointed? You said some persons were appointed?” The CJI also said that the Court is “extremely upset” with the situation. The Supreme Court questioned why the government has allowed the Tribunals to become defunct. A special bench headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana and comprising Justices DY Chandrachud and L Nageswara Rao directed the government to appoint members/chairs of various Tribunals by Monday next week.
