India's Nishad Kumar secured a silver medal in the men's high jump (T47) category at the Tokyo Paralympics with an effort of 2.06m in the final. Nishad Kumar hails from the Una district of Himachal Pradesh and decided to pursue para-sports at age of 10. At World Championship in Dubai, he showed spectacular performance where he won a bronze. With his medal, Nishad became the second Indian to win a medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, with Bhavinaben Patel clinching silver medal in table tennis earlier in the day. "More joyful news comes from Tokyo! Absolutely delighted that Nishad Kumar wins the Silver medal in Men's High Jump T47. He is a remarkable athlete with outstanding skills and tenacity. Congratulations to him," the PM tweeted.
